GENERATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS AT HOME & THE DIASPORA

The Diaspora Intelligence Programme (DIP) is a global research and media initiative of The Dream Foundation dedicated to tracking migration, remittances, and Africa’s return economy, generating opportunities for people in the diaspora and at home through data, insight, and strategic engagement.

Across the world, millions of people of African descent live, work, invest, and influence economies far beyond their countries of origin. Yet the data, policy insight, and strategic intelligence needed to support their movement, investment, and engagement remain fragmented and underutilised. DIP exists to close that gap.

By combining research, real-time intelligence, and media, the Programme provides governments, institutions, investors, and diaspora communities with the information they need to make better decisions that create prosperity across borders.

WHAT WE TRACK

The Diaspora Intelligence Programme monitors the forces shaping diaspora communities worldwide across four core intelligence pillars:

  • Migration and Mobility

Visas, citizenship, student flows, work permits, and return migration trends that determine where and how diaspora populations live and move.

  • Diaspora Money and Investment

Remittances, real estate, entrepreneurship, fintech, and cross-border capital flows that drive wealth creation and development.

Africa and the Return Economy

  • The rise of African cities such as Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, and Kigali as destinations for diaspora investment, business, and resettlement.

Global Black and Ethnic Diaspora Power

The growing influence of Black and ethnic diaspora communities in global business, culture, technology, and politics.

WHAT WE PRODUCE

The Diaspora Intelligence Programme delivers high-quality, data-driven outputs that translate global diaspora trends into actionable knowledge, including:

  • Diaspora research and intelligence reports

  • Policy and development insight

  • Migration and investment analysis

  • Global diaspora news and briefings

  • Opportunity and return-economy mapping

These outputs are distributed through platforms such as DiasporaNews and partner channels to ensure that intelligence reaches decision-makers and communities in real time.

WHY DIP EXISTS

The global African and Black diaspora represents one of the most powerful economic and human capital forces of the 21st century. However, many governments and institutions lack the data and strategic understanding required to engage this community effectively.

The Diaspora Intelligence Programme exists to bridge that gap, providing a trusted source of intelligence that supports smarter policy, stronger diaspora engagement, and sustainable development across Africa and the Global South.

OUR PLATFORM ECOSYSTEM

The Diaspora Intelligence Programme powers a connected ecosystem of platforms designed to turn intelligence into real-world impact:

DiasporaNews.org
The global media and intelligence platform delivering real-time diaspora-relevant news, analysis, and insight.

Discover Lagos
The opportunity and investment gateway connecting diaspora communities to real estate, business, and relocation opportunities in Lagos and across Africa.

Together, these platforms ensure that diaspora intelligence does not remain on paper but becomes opportunity, investment, and engagement.

OUR COMMITMENT

As a programme of The Dream Foundation, the Diaspora Intelligence Programme operates as a public-interest initiative committed to empowering people, strengthening communities, and supporting Africa’s development through knowledge, data, and global collaboration.
